HYDRATION- WHY YOUR BODY NEEDS WATER TO STAY ALIVE

Your body needs water to survive. Every organ, cell, and tissue in your body depends on water to function properly. Are you drinking enough water each day? If not, your health condition may be taking a toll. And why is it so important to drink water? Drinking enough water can help you lose weight, prevent disease, think better, be in a better mood, and more.

This brings us to the topic of hydration. What is hydration and why is it so important? If you are interested in purachasing health supplements online, & NZ health products, read on!

WHAT IS HYDRATION AND WHY IS IT SO IMPORTANT?

Hydration is the process that describes how water is being transported into the body. Though there are different ways to which the body can be hydrated such as through fruits and vegetables, water still remains the best source for body hydration.

According to various researchers, water accounts for over 60% of the body (constituting about 92 pounds in a 155-pound person) and is highly essential for the cells of the body. According to a research reported at a British psychological Annual conference—College students who went into the exam hall with water, scored higher grades than their counterparts who  did not.

Though, the researchers never looked into whether the college students actually drank the water. Nor did they clarify the facts behind their study findings. All the same, the researchers were able to hypothesize that drinking enough water for students could help them improve their thinking, stay calm and combat anxiety- factors which could deter their good performance.

Other researchers have recommended that staying hydrated keeps the memory sharp, stabilises the mood and keeps motivation at an intact level.

It doesn’t end here- Staying hydrated doesn’t just impact the brain. Below are a few ways your body needs water to staying up and alive.

WATER PREVENTS DRY MOUTH

Water keeps your lips and throat moist and prevents them from staying dry. Dry mouth could result in bad breath/unpleasant mouth taste- and in fact, even promote cavities.

WATER ENHANCES CARDIOVASCULAR HEALTH

Dehydration reduces your blood volume, so your heart needs to work harder to pump more blood in order to make up with the reduced amount of blood- to get more oxygen to the cell which makes everyday activities such as walking and exercises- a difficult process.

WATER CALMS THE BODY

The body releases heats by the expansion of the blood vessels found close to the surface of the skin (ever wondered why your face gets red while exercising?), resulting in more heat and more blood flow being dissipated into the air. However, when your body gets dehydrated, it requires a higher environmental temperature to boost the wideness of blood vessel, so you stay hotter.

WATER IMPROVES THE FUNCTIONALITY OF JOINTS AND MUSCLES

When your body is properly hydrated, the water present inside and outside of your contracting muscle provides the right nutrients and eliminates wastes to help you perform better. Water also helps to lubricate the joints. According to an exercise physiologist, Sam Cheuvront, Ph.D.- As opposed to popular belief, muscle cramps aren’t in any way linked to dehydration, but instead to muscle fatigue.

WATER KEEPS SKIN SUPPLE

When your body is well hydrated, the skin becomes less elastic. This is totally different from dry skin, which is mostly due to hot water, soap and skin exposure to dry air. And oh unfortunately, staying severely hydrated will never prevent wrinkles.

WATER DEEP- CLEANSES YOUR BODY — INSIDE AND OUT.

Your kidney depends on water to filter excessive waste from the blood and get it out (excretion) in urine. Staying hydrated may also prevent kidney stones and urinary tract infection. If your body is extremely dehydrated, the kidney may stop working, building up toxins in the body.

HOW DO I STAY HYDRATED?

There obviously no doubt about it. Drinking water is the best way to stay hydrated. Sodas, coffee, iced teas, and other drinks containing caffeine are not the same as water when you want to stay hydrated. As for other ways to stay hydrated, fruits and some other foods contain water.
